The Town of Nanton is responsible for residential garbage collection within the Town, this service is currently contracted. Residential pickup is conducted on Mondays, including holidays, unless otherwise specified. Each residence is permitted three bags of garbage, which must be contained in a covered receptacle. The charge for residential garbage collection is $17.50 per utility bill (bi-monthly).

The Nanton Recycling Depot - REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!
The Nanton Recycling Depot is located 1914 19 Avenue (east of Hwy 2). It is a full service depot to meet all your recycling needs. We recycle almost everything from paper to televisions. Please help us make our recycling depot efficient by sorting your recyclables before you arrive and only bring items that we recycle. Please avoid bringing mixed-materials such as coffee tins, potato chip bags and gift wrap. We ask users to avoid rummaging through recycling piles and to ensure your items are placed in the appropriate bins.
**Please note the new hours of operation below.
NEW! Electronic Recycling Program
The Nanton Recycling Depot is a registered e-cycling outlet. Recycling electronics helps the community become environmentally responsible. Electronic equipment and materials are broken down into recoverable resources and removed safely. This helps relieve landfills and potentially reduces the risk of hazards.

Due to the extremely large volume of cardboard received at the recycling depot, the Town of Nanton is requesting that all users reduce the size of corrugated cardboard to a maximum dimension of 30” x 60” (76 cm x 152 cm). This size is better accommodated in our cardboard baler. Flattened boxes placed inside a larger box is acceptable, however, please do not exceed the dimensions stated. All cardboard must be clean and dry (not oil soaked), with no over-painting or wax coating, and all plastic packaging, handles, food and Styrofoam must be removed (tape is acceptable).
