| Dump Your Junk has been extremely popular. We hope that this program has helped your spring cleaning and we thank you for taking part in our spring cleaning initiative too. The program will end on Saturday, May 11th. Please see depot hours below. |
There will be two 40-yard bins at the Nanton Recycle Depot. These bins are to collect larger household items, etc. from furniture to car bumpers. The bin will be accessible during the depot hours (listed below). It is the responsibility of the owner to properly dispose of their items. We strongly encourage you to sort your waste and recycle appropriate materials before you head to the depot. For more information, contact Clinton Bishop at cbishop@nanton.ca or 403-646-2029.

We are currently in need of people to fill the following positions:
GROUP COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON - This person would oversee the day to day operations of our organization. it is not hard work, and only requires the dedication of an organized person to oversee deadlines and help where needed. Training is available from the current person holding this position, who is retiring due to health complications.
REGISTRAR - This person would be responsible for heading the Registration Night at the start of each new season (Late September usually) and helps submit registration data to Scouts Canada by using an online program. The current Registrar is available to train you, but is retiring as she is also an active Section Leader for the youth.
FUNDRAISING MANAGER - This person would help organize and manage our two major fundraising events. The Popcorn Sales, and the Christmas Tree Sales (October & December) and any additional brainstormed ideas through out the 10 month program. Parent volunteers usually help round out the responsibilities, this person would simply be organizing and deligating duties for each fundraiser to go smoothly.
HALL MAINTENANCE MANAGER - This person would be responsible for overseeing all Hall needs such as lightbulb changes, furnace maintenance, fire saefty equiptment checks, etc. Parent volunteers often assist in repairs as well.
SECTION LEADERS - Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts and Scouts are always in need of volunteers to help run the groups. Planning and brainstorming is usually done as a group once a month, and all leaders conribute. Meetings are once weekly, with occassional weekend events/trips. These adult volunteers are expected to act as respectable and trustworthy role models and leader figures for the youth, and do require a small amont of online training to learn the system in addition to a police record check. You can be a full time leader, or a part time parent helper!
Please email Kim Williamson - kmrwilliamson@gmail.com if you are able to assist the Scout Association with ANY of these positions!
PLEASE NOTE: The Scout Programs run from early September straight through to the beginning of July each year.
