Tom Hornecker Recreation Center The Tom Hornecker Recreation Centre is conveniently located in the centre of the Town of Nanton, accessible from both the North and Southbound Highway #2, on 18th Street. This large facility boasts a large ice rink for winter skating sports as well as three regular curling ice sheets. The ice is utilized by the Nanton Minor Hockey Association, Nanton Figure Skating Club, Palominos Hockey Club as well as other local hockey and ringette clubs. The dry ice surface is rented out after the skating season for various events, such as lacrosse and specialty events like bull riding.
Although the pool facility is completely surrounded by the building, it is not roofed; therefore, is only open from the long weekend in May to the long weekend in September. The pool is home to the Nanton Marlin Swim Club and hosts swim meets as well as the regular summer lessons program and recreation swims. A racquetball court is also available. A concession stand is operational all year round within the facility. The Tom Hornecker Recreation Centre Staff is also responsible for rental of the outdoor recreation facilities, such as the beach volleyball court and the baseball diamonds.

The Town of Nanton has four baseball diamonds located at Centennial Park. Each has a shale infield and grass outfield, individually fenced, and equipped with dugouts and bleachers. The maintenance and booking of the diamonds is handled through the staff at the Tom Hornecker Recreation Centre (403) 646–2961. The Nanton Thelma Fanning Library was named after Mrs. Roy Fanning, former teacher and librarian for many years in Nanton. The Public Library is conveniently located adjacent to the Town Office, along the southbound highway between 19th and 20th Streets. The Library services are easily accessible through the Chinook Arch Regional Library System www.chinookarch.ab.ca.
