  RECYCLE, REUSE, REDUCE!

General Tips

Sorting

Sort your recyclables into different boxes at home.  This will save you time at the depot and will help avoid traffic jams.

The Nanton Recycling Program is currently experiencing difficulties in finding markets for the recyclables.  Also, the Town is without a trailer to transport these goods, and has run out of space to store them.  With these limitations, the Town is currently not accepting certain recyclables.  Please check at the depot for further information.  We apologize for the inconvenience at this time.

SPECIAL NOTE:

Due to the extremely large volume of cardboard received at the recycling depot, the Town of Nanton is requesting that all users reduce the size of corrugated cardboard to a maximum dimension of 30” x 60” (76 cm x 152 cm).  This size is better accommodated in our cardboard baler.  Flattened boxes placed inside a larger box is acceptable, however, please do not exceed the dimensions stated.  Small boxboard such as cereal boxes without liners, beverage boxes, cigarette packages, etc., may be placed in a plastic shopping bag and placed in the bin without emptying the bag.  All cardboard must be clean and dry (not oil soaked), with no over-painting or wax coating, and all plastic packaging, handles, food and Styrofoam must be removed (tape is acceptable).  At this time, the Nanton Recycling Depot cannot accept any Styrofoam; please discard this in your regular waste or make alternate arrangements for recycling.

Please read the attached document for items that are accepted at the Nanton Recycling Depot.  The signage posted at the depot bins will advise of any changes to our program.  Thank you for your assistance with this program!
